I'm currently working on: Hats, hats, hats, hats, hats
State: NSW

I am attempting to keep list-making to a minimum and not put pressure on myself, and to take the time to fix up some old outfits. I often attempt these without success!

So far all that is planned is the IMF in January with Pink35. I'd like to get to at least one Earthly Delights event in Canberra but I don't know yet which one(s).

And lots of hats in general.

Well right now I've got 2 firm deadlines for the year, the Canberra Jane Austen Festival in March requires a Regency dress (and hopefully a Spencer too) and Inter College War (SCA) requires a new blue and gold Tudor gown (because that's my college's colours) I'm also hoping to finish a Tudor working class kirtle that I originally planned to make for Rowany Festival (SCA) last Easter, but I was held up by sewing the eyelets and after the deadline came and went it got put aside for newer more exciting projects, but once my Regency dress is finished I plan to dedicate a full weekend to finishing the eyelets (I think I've got 4 or 5 left to do) then I just need to make up and attach the skirt (which shouldn't take too long, even with hand hemming).

Most of my costuming next year will be fixing all of my costumes - finishing the not quite finished, and redoing what I know can be done better. Which is a lot of stuff. I also need more Regency stuff for the Jane Austen festival, if I end up going, and a new costume for the Ball.

Good luck! I have a box of 'Works In Progress' next to my sewing machine. It was packed 2 moves ago and has only been opened to shove more stuff in the top *facepalm* The entire sewing room is getting reorganised sometime over Xmas, I guess I should go through it then... smile.gif

I'm currently working on: underpinnings 1700s to 1900. Regency day dress
State: NSW

My plan is to finish my underpinnings list. I've almost but not quite finished 2 of the 7 items. Or is it 8 or 9 items. wacko.gif
For the Jane Austen festival in April I want to make 1 day dress in pink with blue check, 1 evening dress (pink hailspot cotton/silk), 1 redingote or coatlike thing (hmmm do you think it might be pink too)and a bonnet.

I still want to finish my crinoline dress (with day and evening bodice). I've got an edwardian dress to make for August (?) and some costumes for Supanova. I'm going to both Brisbane and Sydney and I want some new stuff to wear.

Plus I want another steampunk, actually I need to get all the accessories for the first one. I'm bidding for one piece on eBay at the moment. I'm wearing steampunk to Continuum in August.

I'm currently working on: plans for the next forever of sewing including a tudor/elizabethan spliced fantacy esc dress, 4 more female victorians, still need to to 2 coats and fix 2, Regency dresses and well at least there is no deadline this time.
State: NSW

First up on my list is a corronation dress for a role playing game I am in

does anyone have any pattern suggestions to make a medieval/fantasy corronation dress. The fancier the better.

QUOTE(Anduril @ Dec 5 2008, 11:43 AM) *
Well here's my short list so far but I'm sure it will grow as I get more ideas.

Star Wars: I'm doing an X Wing Pilot and Jedi (Ep I Obi Wan Kenobi). I've already started these ones and am hoping to get both done by March for Melbourne Supanova but are most importantly for my RL membership approval:D

Stargate Atlantis: Would like to do a Wraith at some stage and mabye get that one done for Armageddon '09. I'm looking forward to starting to play around with latex prosthetics and FX makeup to see what I come up with happy.gif .

Crysis:: I'd love to do one of the Nanosuits from this game at some stage through the year, though this is still in early concepts and have no idea where to start but something I'd really love to do and would look great next to p0rtalman in his Halo gear at cons like eGames wink.gif.

Other: Just need to pick up a few bits to really finish off my Stargate SG-1 and Atlantis gear like weapons and an SGA Vest (eg, the hardest Parts to find dry.gif )
Deciding whether to do a Lord of the Rings one too which will possibly be pushed back until 2010 but I'd love to do either an Aragorn, Boromir or Faramir, torn between those three.
Might do an anime one if I decide to go to Manifest next year, though I'm not sure what. Would love to do something from my all time favorite, Neon Genesis: Evangelion but for some reason I don't think I'd feel comfortable in a plug suit but if I'm an awesome armour maker in about 20 years I might make a human sized set of Eva armour hehe, a boy can dream.... mellow.gif
Well that's what I've decided so far hehe, I hope you enjoy making your costumes next year as I'm sure I will with mine! happy.gif

I would love to see a Crysis nanosuit! You win the Internets if you can make one!
I'm not sure what research you've done on it, but could be worth checking out the Haze suits that were made for the game, there sort of similar: http://www.universaldesigns.ca/custom/haze.htm
Anduril, did you make it to eGames this year? i was there saturday, it was great fun biggrin.gif

My planned costumers are:
Space marine from Warhammer 40k
this suit is going to be done on the cheep, out of scrap styrofoam, bondo and fiberglass for the smallest amount of money possible. BUT, knowing me ill go over my budget on it anyway... either way, im going to make it look epic. Im hoping to have it finished for the release of DOW2 early next year. Ive already started the weapons, hoping to get a few new tools for Xmas to speed up the process biggrin.gif

the next is Halo ODST, based on the WETA version from the short films. To be finished before the release of Halo: ODST/Recon (they keep changing the damn name of the game...) along with an Battle rifle (the gun they have in the picture) if i have the cash to get it CNC'd

Ill probably start the costume that I'm going to enter in the 2010/11 cosplay world summit after I've finished Y12 later next year.
To qualify for the Australian title, Spike and jet from Cowboy Bebop:

For the australian title, as well as the world title (if we win that is), ESWAT troopers, possibley Briareos and Tereus.

Can you be a bit more specific? Medieval covers a lot of ground and fantasy covers even more.
Have you got inspiration in some form.
A coronation outfit is usually just the most formal of contemporary fashions although there is sometimes a special over garment like a cloak that is worn only on the most formal of state occasions e.g. I think the English Monarch has a cloak that is only worn for things like the opening of parliament. Ermine was traditionally a fur reserved for those of royal blood so maybe an ermine trimmed cloak. If you've got time you can do a really good faux ermine by cutting strips of black fur, sewing each one into a tube to imitate the ermine tails and then sewing these 'tails' onto a white fur at regular intervals, it's time consuming and fiddly but it makes a really gorgeous finished product.

Thanks for the link but I'm not sure on how I'll go about it, looks complicated and there doesn't seem to be anything on it being done before which means this could be a first which is exciting smile.gif.
Got to get my Star Wars costumes done first before I seriously start doing the nanosuit so I'll probably start a thread here and show off all my research/designs/progress. So far i just have a lot of screenshots and concept art and a head full of ideas.

I wasn't at eGames but my brother worked there and told me he saw a cool "Halo Guy" hehe.

I have just finished a split skirt. Next project is a Natural Form day dress in pink and burgandy silk and i plan to add some fancy embroidery to it with my machine, now that i know what im doing with the machine and alligning everything up.

I will make some pale pink frillies to go with it and matching hat.

Have a corset and corslet belt to make for 2 ladies and a shirt for a guy, that's it so far.

Im off to the US in June and am going to the garment district, so hoepfully i will stock up on some more silk for some planned costumes, or even unplanned ones. A girl can never have too much fabric on hand.

Really not sure what my costuming plans are for 2009. At this stage I'm kinda just hoping I land a long term job opportunity.

Vaguely though, I'm obviously looking at Supanova so I'll probably do something Doctor Who related, maybe something anime. Don't know yet.

Also want to get my regency done and make a proper corset that actually fits me (damn my putting on weight). Also of course, Victorian stuff has to be done, finally.

I definitely want to get to work on a whole bunch of work shirts, as I've generally come to realise that I've really only got the one shirt that makes me look even slightly professional. If I can manage it, I'd also like to make myself a matching pants/jacket set for work, although that might be a little interesting.

I've really got to look at the list of events for next year though and sort out what I can and can't do. My sewing space at the moment is the dining-room table and that's only semi-acceptable.

Yay! All these plans look great!!

My parents finally officially gave in to pay for half of a Sewing machine biggrin.gif Its a cheap one and not the best in the world, but until I get the funds to save for an embroider and fancy sewing machine, it will have to do biggrin.gif:D

Still working out how to make a collapsible Tardis for our Doctor Who Skit, and my Donna Veil Arrived and is exactly right, as well as some pearl Hair-clips!! biggrin.gif So I am off to a flying start! biggrin.gif

The only costume I've been talked into doing is one for the Ball, so they can have a novice competition... blink.gif

Other than that, I'll be helping Kat with accessories for her costumes.

I just picked up 18 metres of cream cotton for $1.99/m. And it is all going towards petticoats over my christmas holidays. I really do not think that I will have any trouble using it up. smile.gif

I'm currently working on: JAFA Regency wardrobe; vintage skirts; Generic Jedi
State: SA

I'm trying to work out my costumes based on events, though since I'm moving, I'm not sure exactly what events are on next year. Also with my course of study (assuming I get accepted, still waiting to hear!) I'm not sure exactly how much time I'll have for my own costuming projects, and what sorts of costuming opportunities I'll have as part of study.

Anywho, here's what is currently on my (almost) definite list:

- Sally Jupiter (aka Silk Spectre I) for the Watchmen Premiere
- Finish my Aurora costume (I've almost finished the corset, and sewn most of the skirt)
- Fix up my Classic Leia costume (need a new belt and new hair pieces and white boots)
- Giselle's Wedding dress
- Ewok village Leia (I already have the fabric)
- Ceremonial Leia (again I have the fabric)
- BloodRayne for AvCon (one of the oldest costumes on my list, and inspiration for me to get in shape tongue.gif)
- Disney Snow White
- New Jedi costume (have most of the fabric)
- Finally finish my Clone Armour (though I need a new helmet, since I'm now doing an ARC Trooper tongue.gif)

These are the definite ones on my list, but there are others that are possibles depending on what happens next year. Mostly I want to make costumes that I already have fabric for, plus some Star Wars ones so that I can participate in SAFF events next year biggrin.gif

This also doesn't include a couple of historical costumes I'd like to make (a proper bustle and dress, and Georgian underpinnings and dress), and a new wardrobe of vintage gear tongue.gif

hahah I'm trying to be realistic with my list this year wink.gif
