I have a friend who is interested in purchasing a Civil War era Kepi [Army hat with visor] either the conferderate or union army colours. Please suggest where I could get one at a reasonable cost without the huge postage price of some stores. I don't mind tracked UPS or economy Fedex or DHL.

Don't know anywhere in Australia you'd get one, but there's heap of online stores inthe US that sell them. Google is your friend:

There is a store here in Queensland that sell really nice ones at a store called 'Distinctive Accessories'. If you like I can find out how much they are? There not far from where I work!

Here in SA there is a range of stores called Mitchell's which specialise in outdoor and camping, but also have a range of hats including replicas of the forage caps from the Civil War in both grey and dark blue. Cost is only $14.95. Bought the grey myself with visions of doing a great coat, but fabric alone was going to cost about $300. Too expensive to get approved for a birthday party.

Just today I went into a store called "Mr Bookcases" - an army disposal store (for the most part though, they seem to deal in furniture). They have two Civil war kepi - one in Conferderate and the other in Union colours. I didn't see what price or size they bother were though (but I think they were a bit big for me, and I'm a size 59).
