...for my little sister of course.

I'd like some suggestions on patterns and such that I could use to make the outfit that's in the following YouTube clip:

I'll be making the outfit in the Christmas holidays in preparation for AVCon next year.

If you can find a pattern for a basic princess line dress it can easily be modified to match the dress in that clip. I find that expanding the princess line seams is a good way to get a lot of flair in an even spread around the skirt. Especially compared with an A-line skirt where it all goes to the sides and can sit a bit too triangle-y.

I was thinking this pattern might be useful to make the skirt. Thoughts?

I think that my evil grin demands photos of you trying it on happy.gif lol
I'll try and remember to have a look tomorrow on works broadband and give you my opinion then.

As I said to my sister: I'd be lucky to get it up to my knees... (because of how short she is)

The second it took her to realise what I said was priceless.

That pattern looks good. Though I would recommend trying to find a full dress pattern just because it's much easier to reduce it to a skirt than to form it into a dress. Mind you, I couldn't tell from that clip if you were intending to make a skirt and blouse seperately or a full dress.

The outfit seems to be in two parts, a dress and a jacket. I would much prefer to make it as a dress rather than just a skirt. Saves making 3 pieces of clothing.

I came across this dress pattern. I think it's pretty close to the outfit so it'll only need a few small modifications. It'll still need another shirt pattern to go underneath as there is way too much cleavage (overprotective brother powers activate).

Also, if you go through the images in gosu rori on avant guache and want a pattern from one of them I have all of the magazines and you'd be welcome to come over and trace one off if it would work for this. I'm sure there would be actual lolita dress patterns for something pretty close to that.

A quick browse didn't reveal any that are really close but it would be helpful for accessories.
