ACGuild Chapters

We are looking for dedicated people to start and manage Chapters and Sub-Chapters in Australia. If you are a dedicated person, and member of the Australian Costumers' Guild and would like some more information please contact the National Committee.

How to become the Australian Costumers' Guild Contact in your state (be a sub-chapter)

Step 1.  Become a member of the ACG (if you are not already).

Step 2.  Be prepared to have your contact details advertised in the National Newsletter 'cOZtume' (mobile phone number and PO Box is fine)

Step 2A.  And be willing to hold (a minimum of) one 'costumed event', per year, under the Costumers' Guild's banner, for the members in your state (or a couple of friends, if there are no other members at this stage).  This can be as simple as grabbing a couple of friends and holding a costumed dinner, or maybe have a picnic in the park.  Doing something like dressing up in appropriate costume to attend a movie premier would count too.

Step 3.  Promise you'll take photos at your event and then send them to the Editor of 'cOZtume' with a short description of what you are doing.

Step 4.  Contact the National President via the contact page and tell us you want to be the official contact for your state.

So now your friends have all joined, and maybe you've made a couple of new friends who have joined too.  And now you (or one of your friends) is thinking you'd like to get a bit more involved, and have costumed events a bit more often...

How to start a chapter of the Australian Costumers' Guild

To be chapter of the Guild you need to have a minimum of 5 ACG members, and to be running several event/activities a year for the members.

Step 1.  Decide who's going to be President (that's usually you, if you're reading this) and what other officers you want to have to share the load.  The bare minimum you need is someone to organise the events (or organise other people to run events) and someone to keep records of what you do.

Step 2.  Decide on your identity, ie. what name you want to call your chapter and your 'logo' (if you want one) - eg. Adelaide is called "Costuming Adelaide" and has a 'spangled fig leaf' on a washing line as their logo.

Step 3.  Then contact the National President via the contact page and tell us you want to be a chapter.

The Adelaide Chapter has a scheduled activity every month.  They hold 4 costumed events a year with workshops, field trips or movie nights filling up the rest of the year.  But how you want to run your chapter is open to negotiation - contact us and let's talk about it.
