Costuming Adelaide is a chapter of the Australian Costumers’ Guild, which is a non-profit, educational organisation whose aims are to encourage and share knowledge about costume design and construction, and to provide a forum for the discussion of costume and related subjects in a friendly environment.
All varieties of costumers are welcome from Historical through to Science Fiction, Fantasy or Fur-suit, Theatrical, Film or TV, Cosplay, Lolita and more. Share your research and construction notes too. If it can be worn we are interested in it!
We also have members who only like to talk costuming, shoot photo or video, work behind the scenes at costume events, or model the creations of other members.
No matter what your interest or skill level: professional, semi-professional or just enthusiastic fan, we hope you'll feel at home with us.
It is our goal to provide a resource group in which costumers can find inspiration, technical help and new experiences, and to promote friendly communication and cooperation among costumers of all styles. |
We also plan to provide an outlet for exhibiting our talents in various forms: costumed events, regional competitions, local displays, presentations etc.
The Guild is responsible for a number of events each year. Usually with a theme, most have workshops beforehand structured around that theme. And, of course, there’s the Annual Costumers’ Ball where anything goes! We also hold regular information nights & social meetings. There are groups now in several states, so there are events both locally and interstate that you can attend.
Membership in the Guild includes the Guild’s national newsletter cOZtume, and entitles you to discounts on workshops and events. There is also the chance to be graded (to an Australian standard) on your work if you choose.
If you are interested in attending any of our events or workshops, please phone, write or drop us an email at the contacts mentioned here, or visit the ACG Forums.
